CTI Earns the EU MRV Accreditation Certificate from UKAS

Centre Testing International Pinbiao, (Shanghai) Co. Ltd, Trading as Shenzhen CTI International Certification Co. Ltd, a part of Centre Testing International Group Co., Ltd. has been awarded accreditation by United Kingdom Accreditation  Service (UKAS) to perform assessments for European Union (EU) Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) of carbon dioxide emissions compliance concerning ships’ monitoring plans and emission reports.

Maritime transport emits around 1,000 million tons of CO2 annually and is responsible for about 2.5% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In June 2013, the European Commission proposed a strategy for progressively integrating maritime emissions into the EU's policy for reducing its domestic GHG emissions. After a two-year legislative process involving all EU institutions, this strategy was adopted by the European Parliament in April 2015. The Regulation 2015/757 ('Shipping MRV Regulation') came into force on 1 July 2015.The EU requires operators of ships exceeding 5,000 GT to monitor and report their carbon emissions and transport work on all voyages to, from and between EU ports. It requires all ships over 5,000 GY calling at EU ports from 1 January 2018 to collect and report verified annual data on CO2 emissions and other relevant information. And Shipping companies shall submit Monitoring Plan to verifiers before 31th Aug.2017according to the schedule.

The accreditation certificate, it means that allows CTI to be the first-groups to help shipping companies to perform assessments for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification in accordance with EU Regulation 2015/757.
